Signature Cocktails!

After talking with our bride earlier today I  came up with a genius idea (although I'm sure it's not thaaat original). I have noticed a tiny trend revolving around cocktails at your wedding.  Many couples have started to create their own signature cocktail for their receptions.  I think that is such a cute idea! You can coordinate with your accent colors as one more little detail added to your wedding. Or, I have even seen some couples go directly to mixologists and take the technical route.  Lets say you enjoy fruity drinks but he is more of a whisky man.. let your mixologist know and he/she can come up with a few options that you can choose from that incorporate both flavors.  Then no matter when you, or your guests, have a drink with those ingredients you can reflect back to the most amazing day of your life. :) Here are some seasonal ideas that you can span from: My bride today is getting married in a couple of weeks and we thought of a great drink to keep you warm during an outdoors fall wedding-spiced apple cider with a twist! Yuuum. Instead of a cold on-the-rocks type of deal she could do something warm, cozy, fall-y and tasty in a nice cider with cinnamon sticks, organges..the whole bit! Here is one awesome recipe I tried for the Spiked Cider! Ingredients:
  • 1 quart apple cider
  • 1/2 750ml bottle dark rum
  • 1/2 750ml bottle Goldschlager cinnamon schnapps
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole allspice
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 orange, sliced
  1. Combine ingredients in a large saucepan, stir and cover.
  2. Heat slowly to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Lower heat and allow to simmer for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Transfer to insulated punch bowl and serve in mugs.
Makes about 15 servings Only makes sense to hit up a holiday drink next! This recipe transfers in a great way from the holidays thru January towards Valentine's day. <3
  • 3/4 oz SKYY Berry vodka
  • 3/4 oz Peppermint Schnapps
  • 3/4 oz white Crème de Cacao
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
  • half and half
  • Soda water
  1. Pour the vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, white Creme de Cacao and grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Pour into a cocktail glass rimmed with crushed peppermint candy.
  4. Fill with half and half.
  5. Top with a splash of soda water.
Now I want to continue onto Spring and Summer cocktails, but there are sooooo many options! The only thing that I associate with Spring and Summer is fresh, light, cool, new.  That puts so many ingredients into those categories.  You can start with fresh berries, bright citrus fruits, tart spritzers, herbal accents or anything bright in color even! The possibilities are endless. I hope you enjoy the two that I have provided and happy hunting in case you do decide to take your own route and creating a John&Jane cocktail special! xx
