Couture Wedding Gowns

The Bustle has decided to write our blog on amazing couture wedding gowns! Couture simply means high-end fashion that is usually custom made. These 5 couture designers should be considered works of art as they are simply stunning.

1. Elie Saab is a Lebanese fashion designer that started his own line in 1982. His designs came to fame when Halle Berry wore a gown of his to the 2002 Oscars and won for Best Actress.

2. Marchesa was extablished in 2004 by two designers, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. Their gowns have been featured on Hollywood's A-List actresses such as Eva Longoria, Cameron Diaz, Olivia Wilde, and Sandra Bullock. Nicole Richie actually wore a custom-made Marchesa gown for her wedding to Joel Madden in 2010.

3. Oscar de La Renta is an renown fashion designer that started his work in 1965. Known for his impeccable attention to detail and timeless pieces, de la Renta has been worn by the likes of Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox, Princesses of Sweden and the Netherlands, and even former first ladies, Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush. Oscar de le Renta started his bridal collection in 2006.

4. Alexander McQueen was a great fashion designer that started his work by designing customes for theater and becoming the head designer for Givenchy in 1996. Known for his rebellious designs, but with a sense of fantasy, McQueen has been worn by people like Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, and just recently, Princess Kate on her wedding day. Her gown was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

5. Last but not least, Christian Dior can almost go without explanation. Christian Dior was a French designer who started his own line in 1946. It was in the first few years that most women opposed his designs as it was the exact opposite of the boxy fashions that were in style at the time.
